Ellison Kendrick is a sought-after performer who has captivated audiences around the world for decades. He experienced musical success as the lead singer of a chart-topping R&B group in his youth. Today, Ellison is solo artist, band member, and backup vocalist for award-winning musicians and producers. Ellison's most recent project Rated E was released in 2023 under his record label, NOSILLE MUZIC GROUP. The independent artist continues to garner chart recognition with his original music and through collaborations with other talented artists spanning genres and countries. In addition to music, Ellison has appeared in feature films and held acting roles in a series of productions.
MEET ELLISON KENDRICK
Born in Miami Beach, Florida of Jamaican/American decent, Ellison Kendrick realized at an early age that music and entertainment would always be part of his life. He was raised in church and was an active lead vocalist of the choir. As a young teen, Ellison was the lead singer of a group that was signed to Nautica/Luke/Atlantic Records, and the group released an album and Kendrick co-wrote two singles, one of which reached #21 on the R&B charts. He was eventually signed as a solo artist to Grammy winner and R&B legend Betty Wright's Ms. B Records and toured as her backup vocalist. Ellison would later sign with EKG Records under which one single was released “Empty Bed”.
Ellison's Dynamic Career has led him to work with various artists to include other Grammy Award Nominees & Winners as Rapper Extraordinaire, DMX and International recording artist Enrique Iglesias. Ellison is also a former backing singer for Grammy Award winner Joss Stone for both (albums and live performances). He sang background vocals for Oscar winner BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and Tony Award winner JOSEPH BWARIE. Additionally, Mr. Kendrick is currently a voting member of the GRAMMY Academy (Miami Chapter).
In 2015 after years of touring with Joss Stone, Ellison co-wrote with producer DAVIS BROWN and released his single "BLACK SUIT" which charted on the Billboard singles sales chart at #11. His diverse portfolio now also includes completing a jingle for Coca Cola for the country of Colombia as well one for Nestle.
Kendrick has made a unique crossover into acting with appearances in the movie "Prejudge Us" as a news reporter. While tackling the role in front of the cameras, he also worked behind the scenes creating a song on the soundtrack of the very same movie entitled "Hurt & Heal".
As a result of his ambition, in 2016 Ellison started his own music label called NOSILLE MUZIC GROUP(ELLISON SPELLED BACKWARDS) and signed his first artist "Jay Onle" who released an EP (BLACK KNIGHT) and new single in July 2021 on the independent imprint entitled REAL. Simultaneously, Ellison formed a band called Ellison Kendrick and the BLACK SUITS performing live at various venues all over the UNITED STATES. In 2017, Ellison was lead actor, costaring in a short film called CREEPIN’ (now only available on YouTube). In 2018 He met a British producer that goes by the initials HD, together they wrote the song “CANT EXPLAIN” which reached #14 on the UK SOUL CHART in that same year.
In 2019 Ellison landed a small role in the former Amazon mini-series BACKLASH (IMDB) where he played a blind Jazz singer. The song CANT EXPLAIN was also featured in the series.
In the spring of 2019 Ellison then landed a small role, as fate would have it, as a wedding singer, in the BlockBuster movie BAD BOYS FOR LIFE (IMDB), not to mention he also recorded a song for the film YOUR PRECIOUS LOVE (featured in the wedding scene) originally sung by Marvin Gaye.
In November 2020, he also lended his vocals and appeared in the video ONE WORLD ONE PRAYER, produced by EMILIO ESTFAN…for the tv special NURSE HEROS LIVE! Early 2021, Ellison worked with Emilio Estefan again, singing backing vocals for his upcoming artist, ELYSANIJ.
